FijiFirst MPs reinstated, eligible to participate in next parliamentary sitting TBC

The lifting of the suspension of FijiFirst means their members can participate in parliamentary proceedings, including the forthcoming sitting the exact date for which is still to be confirmed.

In two brief statements issued this hour, spelling out their reinstatement including the resumption of payment of remuneration and entitlements, the Fiji Parliament also pointed out that the “deferment” of next week’s sitting “is to allow the Coalition Government to ensure the efficient and effective preparation of the 2023-2024 National Budget, before it is tabled in Parliament.”

The parliament did not specify the new date for the sitting only stating that its Business Committee “unanimously approved” to defer next week’s sitting “until further notice”.

June’s parliamentary sitting was slated for June 12-16 as per its calendar of events.
