Fijian Drua Women Dedicate Win to Captain Naisewa’s Sister and Family

The heroic Super W Rugby title holders Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua displayed outstanding rugby this afternoon in Brisbane against Queensland Reds coming away with a 32 – 21 win in their opening Super W 2024 match.

Scoring for the Fijiana Drua were Teresia Tinanivalu, Ana Korovata and two superb tries to debutant Merewairita Neivosa.

Coach Moses Rauluni was proud of the effort gallantly displayed by the team.

“I am very happy with the way the girls played. Even though we left a lot of opportunities where we could have scored but overall I am pleased with the way the girls played. Pleased with the set pieces and lineouts, especially with the way the Reds pack has been over the years.”

Hours before the match, Captain Kara Naisewa was dealt a huge blow with the news of the passing of her sister back home.

“The news was delivered to us and to Kara on game day and so this win today was for Kara’s sister and the family.”

The team face the NSW Waratahs side next week in Lautoka in a double header with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua against Waratahs.
