Fijian Drua Kit Features Designs Unique to Fiji Culture and Tradition

December 9, 2024

The Fijian Drua have gone for certain designs that depict the Fijian culture which includes the mat or ibe on the club’s new 2025 merchandise released on the weekend.

Explaining the unique designs on the wear, Fijian Drua’s General Manager Commercial, Shane Hussein said the kit is unique and holds special significance to the people of Fiji.

“Fijian Drua fans are the world’s best fans and there is no better sight in the competition than tens of thousands of them cheering on their Drua in Suva and Lautoka. It’s wonderful that Jack’s of Fiji is able to roll out the sale early in the festive season, giving our supporters and the public great gifting options.”

“There’s also a particular supporter gear range available at Jack’s of Fiji which will bring back memories of the classic Fijian handicraft stores of old.”

“The designs feature an abstract take on the classic woven mats which are a feature in most Fijian homes. The jersey also subtly blends in recognisable motifs especially created for the Fijian Drua, including the Drua’s own masi designs. The key feature of the masi designs – the bai (fence represented by shark teeth) – is a highly visible new addition to the new jersey design on the collar and sleeve ends.”

At the launch which was held at the Jack’s of Fiji outlet at Denarau Marina in Nadi, Fijian Drua players which included Joseva Tamani, Motikai Murray, Frank Lomani, Iosefo Masi and new signing Peni Ravai modelled the new merchandise in front of the crowd which comprised of customers, fans and tourists who flocked to meet the players and view the new products.
