A sevens rugby series particularly aimed at U20 age group will be held over five weeks in November to begin the process of finding new talent in preparation for the international series and the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
The Fiji Sports Council yesterday signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Fiji Rugby Union who will manage the tournament.
FSC Executive Chairman Gilbert Vakalalabure said the tournaments will be held at 5 of their facilities around the country and is to encourage the participation of the younger players, giving them a platform to show case their talent.
“The Fiij Sports Council will manage the venues and strategic planning, while FRU will bring its rugby expertise and technical guidance to create a high quality competition experience for both male and female U20 players.”

This partnership marks a significant step in advancing grassroots rugby development in Fiji, with a strong focus on preparing young talent for the next Olympic Games.”
FRU CEO Rovereto Nayacalevu said the series is a good platform for aspiring rugby players.
“It will be good to be able to offer them an arena where they can show their skills to the best of their ability.”
The tournament series:
November 01 & 02 – Thompson Park in Navua
November 08 & 09 – Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka
November 15 & 16 – Ganilau Park, Savusavu
November 22 & 23 – Naruyaba Park, Rakiraki
November 29 & 30 – HFC Bank Stadium, Suva
