Fiji records new COVID-19 border quarantine case

A 55-year-old man who arrived in the country from Papua New Guinea last Friday is Fiji’s latest COVID-19 border quarantine case, the country’s 67th, as it marks one year since its first coronavirus case.

The man who had arrived in Nadi on flight FJ1920 via Brisbane returned a positive test result while in quarantine and is currently admitted at the Lautoka Hospital isolation unit.

He is Fiji’s only active case to date, Fiji’s Ministry of Heath confirms.

Since 19 March 2020 when Fiji recorded its first case, the last 49 of the 67 cases have been international travel-associated, detected in border quarantine.
