Fiji’s Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the reassignment of several Permanent Secretaries, including Atelaite Rokosuka, whose move follows a recent disciplinary ruling that ordered her return to work after a misconduct case.
In December, a Public Service Disciplinary Tribunal directed Rokosuka to resume duties after ruling on a misconduct matter brought by the PSC. The tribunal imposed a sanction but did not terminate her employment, allowing her to continue in public service.
Against that backdrop, the PSC confirmed that Rokosuka, who had been serving as Permanent Secretary for Fisheries and Forestry, has been reassigned as Head of the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service (FLIPS) from January 12.
The reassignments were announced by PSC Chair Luke Rokovada, who said the decisions were made with the agreement of the Prime Minister
.
The PSC also confirmed that Peni Sikivou, the Permanent Secretary for National Strategic Planning, Development and Statistics, has been appointed Acting Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Business Development from January 5. He replaces Shaheen Ali, whose contract has ended. Sikivou is expected to act in the role for three to four months until a substantive appointment is made.
In other changes, Eseta Nadakuitavuki, the Permanent Secretary for Women, Children, and Social Protection, will move to the Ministry of Information as its Permanent Secretary, effective January 19.
Meanwhile, Selina Kuruleca, the Permanent Secretary for Justice, will assume responsibility as Acting Permanent Secretary for Women, Children and Social Protection on a part-time basis from the same date, while continuing in her substantive role at the Ministry of Justice.
