Fiji postpones year 12-13 external exams by a week

External exams for years 12 and 13 have been postponed by a week due to heavy rain which is projected to continue early into next week.

The start of year 12 exams and resumption of year 13 tests have been rescheduled to Monday 14 February, but the order of papers or the exam timetable remains unchanged.

Fiji’s Minister for Education Premila Kumar said the ministry remained adamant to release external exams results as scheduled, on 17 March 2022 for year 13s and 6 April for those in year 12.

The ministry, she says, will recruit more markers to ensure results are released on time to facilitate students’ enrollment into year 13 and/or tertiary institutions for the 2022 academic year.

“We will try to produce results on time,” Kumar said.

Ninety-seven per cent of students in year 13 sat seven papers last week, and were to complete their exams next week, starting with Maths tomorrow. Year 12 exams were scheduled to start tomorrow as well for students studying computer and chemistry.
