Netball Fiji is relishing the chance to take on a visiting Singapore side in a series of matches to gauge its readiness for the 2023 Netball World Cup Qualifiers.
NF Chief Executive Vivian Koster said the training matches will help the Pearls prepare for the qualifiers which they are aiming to win.
For the visitors, the matches will assist in their preparation for the Asian Netball Championships on 3-11 September in Singapore. The top two teams will qualify for the 2023 Netball World Cup.
The Singaporeans will arrive in Fiji on Saturday, 28 May. The team will play five matches over the week – three against the Fiji Pearls Squad members and one training match each against the Fiji Men’s team and Fiji 21 & Under Squad.
“Netball Singapore would like to expose all named 15 players for this tour in a different environment to further develop specific on-court strategies and trial different combinations. Singapore chose Fiji for the training games as the Pearls have always provided the platform to raise their game and expose their players to tough competition against one of the top netball nations,” Singapore head coach Annettee Bishop said.
The training matches begin on Monday 30 May at 6:30pm at the Vodafone Arena.
