The Fiji Pearls have moved up to 16th in the latest World Netball ranking, three places up from their standing nine months ago.
In March this year, the national side occupied19th spot in the ranking.
The updated World Rankings include the results from 84 international matches played across five regions between September 30 and December 10. This takes to 202 the total number of matches played since the annual update on March 1.
The Fiji Pearls replace Samoa at 16th, following their silver medal finish
at the Pacific Games in December. The Pearls won all their games in the pool stage, as well as their semi-final before losing to eighth ranked Tonga in the final.
Netball Fiji CEO Ms Vivian Koster said, “We are happy that the Fiji Pearls have increased their world ranking. It’s a slow build to increase our ranking but that is how the Netball rankings work. It includes older
matches dating back to 2019, these will eventually fall off and Fiji will
likely increase their ranking again.”
