Fiji Falls Short in OFC Futsal Women’s Nations Cup Final

August 26, 2024

Fiji’s run in the OFC Futsal Women’s Nations Cup ended with a 7-1 defeat to New Zealand in the final in Honiara.

This marked the second meeting between the two sides in the tournament, with New Zealand winning their first encounter 9-1.

Despite a strong start from Fiji and a goal from Koleta Likuculacula just before halftime to narrow the score to 2-1, they struggled to keep pace with the clinical Kiwis. New Zealand’s relentless attack overwhelmed Fiji in the second half, with goals from Tessa Leong, Jordana Bremner, Dayna Manak, and a late own goal sealing Fiji’s fate.

Despite their best efforts, Fiji couldn’t contain New Zealand, who secured the title and a spot in the FIFA Futsal Women’s World Cup 2025 in the Philippines.
