Fiji’s Supervisor of Elections (SoE) is in Vanuatu as part of the United Nations Development Programme’s election program to observe the country’s snap elections taking place today.
Mr Saneem says the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) facilitated the provision of indelible ink for the 2022 Vanuatu snap elections due to the short notice in which the election was announced and the time it takes to procure credible ink.“The FEO appreciates the support of the Indian High Commission in terms of allowing the FEO to hand over ink from its contingency stock to the Electoral Commission of Vanuatu to effectively conduct their elections,” Mr Saneem said.
The election was prompted after President Nikenike Vurobaravu dissolved the country’s parliament on August 19, paving the way for the snap elections, following a 10-day campaign period, to determine the country’s 52-seat parliament. Eight females are among the candidates contesting for a seat.
