Fiji Elections 2022: Final results reflect correct data-EC

December 16, 2022

Fiji’s Electoral Commission says the counting of votes is done manually and not via the Fijian Elections Office (FEO) results app, adding that the anomaly in the software has been rectified.

It also stated that the final results that are being updated on the app reflect correct data.

The statement issued this afternoon via the EC, almost 24 hours after counting started, was in response to complaints it said that it had received from a number of individuals demanding manual counting of the votes for the 2022 General Election.

“This was also addressed by the Supervisor of Elections recently in his statement to the media that the counting of ballot papers is done manually,” the commission said.

“The Commission also notes that these are complaints and comments made in regard to the anomaly in the FEO Results App. The Commission hereby confirms that the FEO Results App is not used to count votes but is used to upload the data after the protocol of results is entered in the Result Management Information System (RMIS).”
