Authorities in Fiji are still working to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of a 41-year-old acting resort manager in Wailoaloa, Nadi last weekend.
Police have urged the public to remain patient as investigations are ongoing.
The Fiji Police Force confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway, with officers keeping an open mind regarding the cause of death.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Crime Mesake Waqa highlighted that speculation would not assist the investigation and assured the victim’s family of the police’s commitment to determining the facts.
“We will not be drawn into speculation and assure the victim’s family of the conduct of a thorough investigation,” ACP Waqa said in a statement.
He added that police would comment further only when the investigation has been completed, calling on the public to allow investigators the time and space to carry out their work effectively.
The Fiji Police Force has also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to respect the sensitivities of the case as officers carry out their work.
