Fiji 7s Trials Spot Diverse Talents for Upcoming Season

Fiji’s first national trials for 7s rugby in preparation for the upcoming season took place in Suva with over 100 players scouted from local competitions including Skipper Cup, local clubs, under-20s, and Fiji Warriors.

Head coach Ben Gollings highlighted the goal of identifying prospective players and closely monitoring them in upcoming tournaments to further evaluate talents from which he would select players for national duties.

Thirty contracts are on offer, with the primary lineup consisting of 20 senior positions and 10 development contracts.

Gollings will also have his spotters at the Vodafone Deans Finals this weekend for the same reason, noting as well the positions he is keen on strengthening in the forwards and outside backs.

The Deans finals, hosted at HFC Stadium, will feature the U14 final between Suva Grammar School and Marist at around 8am, culminating in the U18 finale at 5.35 pm between first-time finalists Natabua High School and Queen Victoria School.
