The Fiji Airways national sevens side have regrouped in Suva in preparation for the HSBC Svns World Championships to be held in Los Angeles from the 3rd – 4th of May.
This championship only features the top eight men’s and women’s teams and national sevens squad member Saki Siqila says the squad is working on their mistakes from the last two legs and ironing out areas that they didn’t perform well in.
“We took learnings from the last two tournaments in Hong Kong and Singapore and even though we won at the last one, we identified areas that we will need to improve on and that’s what we have been doing since coming back into camp this week.”
Siqila said the tournaments thus far have enabled him to grow his game.
“I still have a lot to learn from those who have been in the team much longer than me but so far being part of this team has been a huge privilege. I can only get better from here and learn from coach Osea Kolinisau.”
Fiji is pooled with Spain, Australia and New Zealand in Pool B while Argentina, South Africa, France and Great Britain are in Pool A.
In the women’s pool, New Zealand, Canada, Japan and Great Britain make up the first pool while Australia, France and USA are classed with Fiji in Pool B.
