The Fiji 7s men’s team wrapped up the first round of matches at the Oceania 7s with three wins from three after a close 21-19 win over New Zealand this afternoon.
The win sees them cement their place atop the table, with the final round-robin matches left to go, where they will play all three teams again. The team that comes out on top tomorrow after the double round-robin format, will be crowned champions.
The side plays Australia again this evening in the second round of matches. They had accounted for a confident Australian outfit 26-14 in their first encounter yesterday afternoon. The hosts are expected to bring their best game to this evening’s match-up.
Fiji had also played and defeated Oceania 32-12 yesterday.
The tournament finishes tomorrow.
