The Fijian Elections Office released a new handbook for media preparing to cover Fiji’s 2022 General Elections, featuring some new components including a section on the country’s electoral system.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the handbook sets out what media should and should not do when reporting on the forthcoming election, the country’s third under the 2013 Constitution.
The 80-page handbook also includes a section on reporting on gender in elections and the global charter of ethics for journalism.
Meanwhile, Fiji is still in the campaign period for the 2022 elections during which the nine registered political parties have commenced their respective pocket meetings and a few have named some of their provisional candidates.
