A one-month-old baby is Fiji’s latest COVID-19 fatality, becoming the seventh child in the 0-9 age group to succumb to coronavirus since December last year.
The infant was admitted to the CWM hospital three weeks after birth with severe COVID-19.
The Ministry of Health said that despite the best efforts of clinicians, he died 12 days later on 6 August.
He had no underlying medical conditions and did not belong to the vaccine-eligible population, therefore he was not vaccinated.
Fiji’s total COVID-19 death stands at 875.
