A four-year-old boy died hours after he was admitted to CWM Hospital last week, becoming Fiji’s latest COVID-19 victim.
He developed respiratory distress on Wednesday 24 August and was taken to hospital.
Fijian health authorities said the toddler died hours later despite the attending clinicians’ efforts to save him. At 4-year-old he did not belong to the vaccine-eligible group.
The death brings to 878 the number of people who have died of coronavirus in Fiji, while 985 others who had tested positive for COVID-19 died from other serious medical conditions.
