COVID-19 Fiji: 104 new coronavirus cases

Fiji recorded 104 new cases in the latest coronavirus update, 16 of them are in hospital as the country’s 7-day average positivity rate jumps to 3% from nearly 2% within days.

Of the new cases, 45 were recorded on Tuesday, 21 June, 28 new cases on Wednesday 22 June and 31 new cases as of 8 am yesterday morning.

Fifty-four of the cases were recorded in the Central Division; 38 cases in the West and12 cases were recorded in the Northern Division.

Of those hospitalised, 14 are asymptomatic and regarded as mild while two are classified as moderate. The Ministry of Health said that a significant number of those hospitalised were admitted for non-covid health conditions. They tested positive due to the high transmission in the country.

Since March 2020, Fiji recorded 65,465 coronavirus cases, of which nearly 97 percent recovered.

Total active cases as of yesterday stand at 184.
