Court Remands Man Who Offered Police $3,000 to Destroy Methamphetamine

A man who tried to influence police officers to take $3000 and in return destroy evidence of his possession of 1.4 kg of methamphetamine has been remanded by the Nadi Magistrates Court.

The court heard that on March 15 police discovered the illicit drugs at the man’s home in Barara, Sabeto after a raid.

“Another search conducted inside the accused persons’ home also led to the discovery of a parcel and another zip lock plastic both containing methamphetamine.”

In Lautoka, three men are in police custody following the discovery of clear plastic bags containing white crystals believed to be methamphetamine and dried leaves believed to be marijuana.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Livai Driu said in Tavua a man is also being investigated for unlawful possession of what is believed to be methamphetamine. The discovery happened after the man was taken in for questioning regarding a theft.

In Sabeto in Nadi, dogs from the Police Dog Unit discovered substances believed to be methamphetamine on a 30-year-old woman who has now been placed in custody.
