Court defers plea hearing for Nausori bus stand assault accused

A high court in Suva deferred to next week the plea for three men accused of causing the death of a 54-year-old man at the Nausori Bus Stand last month.

Accused persons Mikaele Lawaniyavi, Isikeli Lagibalavu and Josateki Rabula, charged with manslaughter, were supposed to take their plea today.

This will now happen on Tuesday 8 December after Rabula’s lawyer asked for further information. Justice Aruna Aluthge also extended the trio’s bail.

The three are accused of assaulting a man, who was a bus driver, on 3 October 2020. The man died six days later.
