A magistrate’s court in Tavua released on bail four police officers accused of assaulting suspects during a drug raid in Tavua two years ago.
Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili granted the four – Jese Marovia, Mavi Kuruvakatini, Samisoni Noqica and Senirusiate Nasobu – bail on strict conditions. The matter has been adjourned to October 19 for plea.
The four are charged with three counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and four counts of common assault. It is alleged that between January 25 and January 26, 2018 in Tavua, they assaulted suspects during a drug raid.
