Constitutional Appointments at Month End: Fiji PM Rabuka

The positions of Auditor General, Commissioner of Corrections and Supervisor of Elections will be determined by the end of the month, Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka told Parliament today.

In his ministerial address on the role of Constitutional Officers Commission, Rabuka said processes have been adhered to in various appointments and dealings of the commission.

Rabuka was responding to issues highlighted by various quarters in the media recently particularly to the appointment of Ana Mataiciwa who is currently the Acting Supervisor of Elections.

“Twenty thousand dollars has been allocated in the financial year for the COC and they continue to carry out their operations to ensure that issues that have been brought up are addressed. This commission is vital in maintaining we are abiding by the law.”
