All 12 files from the Commission of Inquiry have been reviewed and sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for the next necessary steps.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the Fiji Police will now proceed based on the ODPP’s findings.
“I can confirm now, that all 12 reports with Police, prior to, and after the COI, have been investigated, and submitted to the Office of the DPP for independent legal advice.”
Speaking at media conference, the Police Commissioner also told the gathering that an investigation file into the former FICAC Commissioner for unlawfully disseminating information has been returned.
“As earlier confirmed, the investigation file into the Complaint of Abuse of Office against the former FICAC Commissioner, for unlawfully disseminating information, from the National Register of Voters, was submitted to the Office of the DPP on the 21st of March, and returned with an advice of “Insufficient Evidence”.”
“We await further guidance from the Office of the DPP regarding the remaining 11 files.”
Commissioner Tudravu also briefed the media on the investigations into the death of Lautoka resident Richard Mock, as well as the case involving the Police Officer whose church preaching had sparked complaints.
“In relation to the investigation into the death of Mr. Richard Mock, the file is still with the Office of the DPP, and we await further guidance.”
“In relation to the investigation against the officer who was preaching in church, he has been questioned and released, to allow further investigation to be conducted.”
