Residents and/or travellers along south-west Viti Levu, the southern coastal areas of Beqa, Vatulele and Kadavu are advised to be mindful during periods of high tide today and tomorrow.
Fiji’s Met Office has issued a damaging heavy swell warning for these areas, adding that accompanying breaking waves could cause coastal inundation and sea flooding during high tides.
The next high tide today is expected around 1.45 pm and on Saturday, 2.15 am and 2.40 pm.
Motorists travelling along the Queen’s Highway at these times are requested to be particularly mindful when driving along the Vatukarasa stretch.
