Coaching National Side Is ‘A Privilege and Humbling’: Flying Fijians Head Coach

Fiji Water Flying Fijians Head Coach Mick Byrne says guiding the national side is both humbling and a privilege.

Responding to media questions during an interview on Fiji’s pool makeup for the 2027 Rugby World Cup earlier today, Byrne said it is always rewarding to see the impact the team has on Fiji and her people.

“The rewards are what it means to the people. The people you meet on the street, the people you meet around town, the people you meet overseas are the big rewards of coaching this side.”

Byrne said he counts himself privileged to be coaching the side and is grateful.

“What the team means to our people and for me, obviously, coaching the players and men we’ve got is somethibg I am always very grateful for, grateful for the opportunity to do it.”

“The rewards are also what you get back from the players and supporters. It’s a very humbling role coaching Fiji and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to do it.”

Fiji is in the same pool as Argentina, Spain and Canada for RWC 2027 that will take place in various cities around Australia from October 1 to November 13.
