CEO goes on leave as Fiji Rugby fires three

Fiji Rugby says operations at Rugby House “remains normal” despite the termination of three staff last week and the Chief Executive Officer John O’Connor taking his annual leave to allow for an audit following “discovery of certain breaches of internal processes.”

FRU Chairman Commodore Humphrey Tawake did not elaborate on the incident in a statement issued today only reassuring stakeholders, adding that National Operations Manager Sale Sorovaki takes on the CEO’s role in O’Connor’s absence starting today.

“An audit is part of the everyday business function and for Fiji Rugby to facilitate that immediately, FRU CEO has volunteered to take annual leave to allow for the process to happen seamlessly,” Mr Tawake said.

“At this stage, there everything remains and operates as normal. We have just completed our provincial tournaments and have now moved our focus to the schools’ competitions.”
