Businessman arrested for damaging property at Police Post

A businessman in his late 30s is in police custody after he allegedly attacked an officer and damaged property at the Pacific Harbour Community Post this morning.

Chief Operations Officer (COO) Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Khan said the suspect stopped by at police post after 7 am today to enquire about a report.

ACP Khan said the suspect was acting in a strange manner and allegedly became aggressive, swearing at the Police officer on duty before leaving.

After a few minutes, he returned and allegedly took a Vodafix and a desktop computer and threw it against the wall. The officer managed to overpower the suspect and in the process, the officer’s uniform was torn and he sustained injuries but was eventually locked in the cell.

ACP Khan said such actions will not be condoned and he has urged members of the public who have issues regarding Police service delivery to follow the proper channels and report the matter to Internal Affairs.
