Boys are aware of importance of Moana game: Derenalagi

The importance of today’s Super Rugby Pacific game against the Moana Pasifika in Lautoka is not lost on the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua team, says captain Meli Derenalagi.

The stage has been set for this encounter, including outcomes of games that will facilitate Drua’s chances of securing a semi-final spot – with the Highlanders beating the Reds 35-30 and Rebels accounting for Force 52-14 last night.

With 17 points, the Drua need to win by bonus points in their next two matches, starting with the Moana Pasifika today. However Derenalagi knows it will not be easy, highlighting the physicality and rivalry between the two teams.

In their last meeting in round one of games this season, the Drua won by two points, 36-34.

“It will be a physical match of the two rivals. It won’t be easy, but for the preparation for the boys, we are working hard ” Derenalagi said. “We know they’ll come hard. It will be lots of work from the boys to stand our ground and protect our turf.”

The match kicks off at 2.05pm at the Churchill Park.
