The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) has appointed Ajay Nand Ballu as the Chef de Mission for the 2025–2028 quadrennial.
Ballu will lead Team Fiji at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.
Following changes to the Commonwealth Games format, Team Fiji expects to send approximately 72 athletes to Glasgow and these include:
- Athletics (including Para-Athletics)
- Basketball (3×3)
- Boxing
- Judo
- Lawn Bowls
- Para-Powerlifting
- Swimming
- Weightlifting
“We are looking at sending about 72 athletes to represent Team Fiji after the qualification stages,” Ballu said.
Ballu, a former national archer, previously served as Chef de Mission for the 2023 Pacific Games.
FASANOC CEO Vanessa Kilner highlighted that his experience is key to the organization’s goals.
“Ajay has demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to Team Fiji over many years,” Kilner said. “His dedication to athlete welfare makes him the right person to lead our teams to Glasgow and Dakar.”
In addition to his duties with the national team, Ballu will assist FASANOC in developing a new framework to mentor sports administrators and future leaders within local federations.
“I am honoured to serve Fiji once again,” Ballu stated. “I look forward to working with our coaches and athletes to ensure Team Fiji is well prepared and supported.”
