Bainimarama returns to Fiji

March 2, 2022

Fiji’s Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is back in the country this morning, putting an end to speculation about his health.

He took to twitter to announce his return where he also shared photos of him and Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

“Thank you for your prayers. There’s no better feeling than coming home to the family I love and the people I’m privileged to lead,” he tweeted. “Safe to say I know a thing or two about making a recovery – my mission here at home is to keep Fiji’s going strong.”

He arrived on a flight from Melbourne.

Bainimarama returns to the country after nearly two months. He was reportedly away in Australia for medical review and surgery.

During his absence, Minister for Defence Inia Seruiratu held the acting PM portfolio for a while before Sayed-Khaiyum took over.
