Ba and Rewa Strengthen Positions as Group A of Pacific Community Cup 2025 Takes Shape

Ba and Rewa recorded important victories on Day Two of the Pacific Community Cup 2025 in Auckland, tightening their grip on the early Group A standings and placing pressure on the chasing pack.

At Bill McKinlay Park today, Rewa edged NZFFI All Stars 1–0 before Ba produced a commanding second-half performance to defeat AUFFI All Stars 3–0.

The results leave Ba top of the group with maximum points from two matches, while Rewa sit second after maintaining their unbeaten start.

Rewa 1–0 NZFFI All Stars

Rewa responded to their opening-day stalemate against AUFFI with a measured, disciplined performance, securing their first win of the tournament with Jalil Regague’s 22nd-minute strike.

The Delta Tigers, who arrived with a squad featuring several of their domestic title-winning regulars, controlled long stretches of the match and created the clearer opportunities. Rewa’s senior players orchestrated play, while goalkeeper James Do’oro remained largely untroubled thanks to a well-organised defensive line.

NZFFI, playing their first match of the campaign after missing last year’s tournament, improved in the second half following a series of substitutions but were unable to break down Rewa’s structure.

Rewa saw out the closing stages with composure despite a late surge from the All Stars.

Ba 3–0 AUFFI All Stars

Ba continued their strong start to the competition with a convincing win over AUFFI All Stars, scoring three times after the interval to move clear at the top of Group A.

The opening half was evenly contested, but Ba seized control when Penisoni Tirau converted from the penalty spot six minutes after the restart. Captain Etonia Dogolau added two further goals, finishing well in the 46th and 60th minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

Ba—who last won the Pacific Community Cup in 2022—fielded a squad anchored by several players involved in their recent IDC campaign and looked increasingly assured as the match progressed.

AUFFI, who drew with Rewa on Day One, struggled to match Ba’s pace and physicality in the second half and now sits near the foot of the table with one point from two matches.

The results set up a potentially decisive clash between Rewa and Ba tomorrow, with both sides in strong early form. NZFFI and Northshore, meanwhile, face increasing pressure to secure points as they enter the middle phase of group play.
