All schools used new year 12 Maths paper: Education

Fiji’s Ministry of Education was forced to replace the year 12 Maths paper within days after a printing company employee leaked the initial copy to a student who subsequently shared it with friends.

The incident was discovered last Friday (18 Feb 2022) that the ministry had to step in to replace the paper in time for exams yesterday.

“The matter is currently with the police and they are taking the necessary steps to ensure that the culprit is brought to justice,” Minister for Education Premila Kumar said. “At this point in time, the ministry is not in a position to reveal any further details as the matter is under investigation.”

Kumar was also disappointed with those involved and said that the ministry would be taking steps to prevent such cases in the future.

“It is very unfortunate that the employee from the printing company was involved in the leakage of the paper, and it clearly shows how people can act very irresponsibly,” said Kumar. “To prevent similar incidents, we have to have plans to counter any such attempts so as to maintain a fair and balanced testing environment for all our students.”

The ministry confirms that all schools used the new exam papers today and exams ran smoothly.
