Injury worries in Fiji 7s camp ahead of London tourney

May 24, 2022

Fiji 7s’ Joseva Talacolo has been ruled out of the London 7s this weekend whilst the jury is still out on Sevuloni Moceinacagi’s availability.

Confirming the news national 7s coach Ben Gollings said that Talacolo has been unwell.

“We won’t look to using him. We want him to recover to get back to full fitness. In terms of Sevu, obviously, he was a great inclusion. He has a minor injury and we are just monitoring that. We will look at using him if he gets through fit.”

As an injury cover, Gollings has Jerry Matana who did not take part in the Toulouse 7s last weekend.

“He is really hungry to play and I am excited for him to play.”

For the London 7s scheduled to be played in four days’ time, Fiji is grouped in Pool A alongside USA, Spain and Wales. The London tourney is the second last tournament in the 2021/2022 World Rugby 7s Series which wraps up with the Los Angeles 7s on 27-28 August.
