No vax check at FEO offices after review of COVID risk status

February 4, 2022

The Fijian Elections Office is no longer deemed a high risk business and as such beginning today relaxed some of the COVID-19 protocols at all its premises.

After having received official confirmation from the Ministry of Health and Medical Services regarding their status, the FEO will no longer will carrying out vax check at all of its venues.

“However, it will continue with other COVID-19 safety measures at its premises,” said Mohammed Saneem, Fiji’s Supervisor of Elections.

The review of FEO’s status and guidelines comes a month after the elections office had implemented all protocols required for high risk businesses following consultations with the health ministry.

“Since then we have been liaising with the MOHMS seeking clarification of the status of FEO and in the meantime we implemented safety measures as per the guidelines,” said Saneem. “Now that clarification has been done, anyone that was affected by the earlier measures and could not obtain voter services can do so from now until the elections.”

The FEO will still require all its staff to be fully vaccinated in-order to be employed at the FEO.
