A low pressure system currently lying near Solomon Islands is not expected to directly affect Fiji, however it is anticipated to cause heavy rain and subsequent flooding in the country later next week.
In their latest update, the Fiji Meteorological Office says it will continue to monitor the weather event and update warnings and forecasts accordingly.
The weather office also today released its weather outlook for December 2021 through February 2022 during which they predict rainfall and air temperatures to be above normal as a result of a La Nina event established for the tropical Pacific Ocean, and is expected to continue through April 2022.
