Preparedness packs for NDMO
DISASTER preparedness kits funded by the European Union were handed over to the National Disasters Management Office this week.
Expected to boost NDMO staff ability to carry out work in the current cyclone season, the donation was valued at $11,00 FJD and contained 50 kits in total.
The kits included solar power banks, water bottle, mini first aid kit, emergency whistle, solar lantern, waterproof raincoat and a female hygiene pack which comes in a red dry bag.
European Union Ambassador to Fiji and the Pacific Sujiro Seam handed over the kits to Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, National Disaster Management and Meteorological Services Jone Usamate.
Ambassador Seam said it was important that people were well prepared to face natural disasters.
“The EU is proud to provide the NDMO these disaster preparedness kits, which will definitely boost Fijis ability to prepare and protect their families from future natural disaster,” said Ambassador Seam.
