COVID-19 Fiji: 240 new cases and zero deaths over 48 hours

Fiji recorded 240 new cases and no deaths over 48 hours ending at 8am yesterday with 136 of the cases reported in the West, 100 in the central division and four in the eastern division.

There were 92 recoveries and one non-COVID-death over the same period.

These bring total active cases in Fiji to 12,981 with 1,252 cases in the central division, 11,419 in the western division, one in the northern division (Macuata), and 309 active cases in the eastern division (all in Kadavu).

There have been 49,889 cases during the outbreak that started in April 2021, and a total of 49,959 cases in Fiji since the first case in March 2020. There have been 36,011 recoveries since 2020.

There have been 566 deaths due to COVID-19 in Fiji, with 564 of these deaths during the outbreak that started in April this year. A total of 401 COVID-19 positive patients have also died during the outbreak. Their deaths however were not classified as COVID deaths as they were attributed to other causes.

There are currently 115 COVID-19 patients admitted to hospitals on Viti Levu, of which 34 are at the Lautoka Hospital, 81 admitted across CWM hospital, St Giles, and Makoi. Six of the 115 patients are considered to be in severe condition, and three are in critical condition.
