Tui Labasa welcomes back Fijiana star

Fijiana Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist and dual international Viniana Riwai presented her sevusevu to the Turaga na Tui Labasa Ratu Jone Qomate today after she spent four days in quarantine after arriving in Labasa last week.

The young lady was welcomed onto the village by the elders of the chiefly village of Nasekula this morning.

Accompanied by her parents and immediate family members, Viniana was embraced as she sat with her elders.

“You have made everyone proud. We are so very proud of you. Thank you for all the sacrifices and hard work you made.” Ratu Jone said.

Riwai who was one of the pivotal players for the Fijiana during the Tokyo 7s has featured for Fiji as well in soccer. The Cakaudrove lass was part of the team that played at the 2019 Samoa Pacific Games. She started playing football while a student at Labasa Muslim College. She has also represented Labasa in the IDC.
