The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA Fiji) handed over 100 beds to the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), aiding the Fijian Government’s response to COVID-19.
With the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the Central Division, the beds will be used at COVID-19 care facilities set up by the Ministry of Health in the Suva area to care for positive patients.
ADRA Fiji Country Director Iliapi Tuwai said the assistance is mobilised in appreciation of the effort being made by the Fijian Government to contain the spread of the virus.
“We appreciate the effort being made to help contain the virus and hope this assistance will add value to the tireless effort being made by our front line workers in their work to safeguard the lives of every Fijians,” Tuwai said.
Tuwai has also expressed his appreciation to donors in World Vision New Zealand, ADRA International, ADRA Germany, ADRA Austria, ADRA NZ, ADRA Australia, Tear fund, LDS for supporting ADRA Fiji’s response with the provision of funds to purchase 100 beds. The donation is part of a soon-to-be-implemented project involving the distribution of 1000 food kits, 1000 Multipurpose cash, vegetable seeds, psychosocial support, PPEs and to raise COVID-19 awareness.
He also urged other donors to join this intervention in supporting more families in Fiji.
ADRA Fiji had also provided PPEs to frontline workers based at the CWM Hospital, as part of their contribution to the Fijian Government’s efforts to reach those affected by the pandemic and mitigate its spread.
