The Fijian Government has outlined three grounds – one permanent and two temporary – as the basis on which workers can be exempted from getting their COVID-19 vaccination jabs.
Excused entirely are those workers who have a medical condition or allergy that prevents them from getting the vaccine whilst temporary exemptions are being offered to pregnant mothers awaiting the Moderna vaccine and individuals that had tested positive for coronavirus and required to observe a 90-day waiting period first.
However, these exemptions are subject to the approval of the Permanent Secretary for Health, Dr James Fong.
Workers looking to be exempted on any of the outlined grounds whilst they continue work are required to submit their personal details including personal contact, the reason for requesting the exemption and supporting documents to verify their request.
For all exemption applications, anticipate the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to revert within at least 24-48 hours. Details are to be emailed to: covidexemptionreq@gmail.com or call 158.
All documents will be reviewed prior to any exemption given by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, the Fijian Government said.
