March 1, 2021

Close to 800 people are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine in Fiji, but none tested positive for coronavirus to date, maintaining the country’s active cases at three and an overall tally, 59.

In a statement today, Fiji’s Ministry of Health said 766 overseas arrivals all are observing their 14-day mandatory quarantine in border facilities, but there have been no new cases since the last active case was reported four days ago.

Fiji’s three active cases have since been placed in isolation wards at the Lautoka Hospital. The latest cases bring the country’s coronavirus tally to 59, with 54 recoveries and two deaths since the first case on 19 March 2020.

Like the previous 38 cases, the latest three are international-travel associated cases.

As of today, the Ministry of Health said it has carried out 30,607 laboratory tests, with a daily average of 209 tests per day over the last seven days, and a weekly average of 1162 tests per week over the last two weeks.
