Botitu scores in Castres Top 14 win

January 12, 2021

Fiji 7s rep Vilimoni Botitu scored a try in Castres’ 39-23 bonus-point win over Agen over the weekend.

Botitu scored in the 55th minute in a game that saw Castres’ proved its form playing with only 14 men after Filipo Nakosi was red-carded two minutes into the game.

Nakosi was shown a red for a dangerous tackle, but neither stopped Castres nor Botitu from putting up a strong performance to beat Agen.

Botitu who joined the Top 14 side early last year started the match at inside centre while Nakosi started on the left wing. The win ensures Castres steer clear of the tail end of the competition which Agen occupies.

Botitu joined the Top 14 side last year. He made his debut for Fiji on the World Rugby Seven Series in Dubai in 2018. The same year he featured at inside centre in the Fijian Drua’s 2018 World Rugby Under-20 Championship win.

The 22-year-old’s form saw him named alongside Semi Radradra in Sky Sports XVs Team of the Week.
