Canakaivata and Nasova to Lead Star-Studded Drua 7s at Coral Coast

Fijian Drua stars Elia Canakaivata and Joji Nasova have been named co-captains of the Drua 7s side for this week’s McDonald’s Coral Coast 7s in Sigatoka.

The duo leads a side eaturing a mix of Super Rugby regulars and rising stars from the development pathway.

The team’s coaching panel is led by Nemani Nadolo-Kuridrani, supported by Olympic gold medalist Meli Derenalagi as Assistant Coach and Waisale Serevi as Technical Advisor.

“We’ve got a really balanced squad for the McDonald’s Fiji’s Coral Coast 7s. The likes of Meli Derenalagi as Assistant Coach and Waisale Serevi as Technical Advisor is great for our team,” said Nadolo-Kuridrani.

“There’s a lot of experience there and I’m really excited about what we could do in this wonderful tournament.

From the main Fijian Drua squad talent: Kitione Salawa, Ilaisa Droasese, Isikeli Rabitu, Philip Baselala, Aisea Nawai, and Maika Tuitubou.

From the Development team: Joweli Walevu, Kalioni Ratunabuabua, Pita Manamananaivalu, Meli Dreu, and Bogi Kikau and Simeli Karacia, a key member of the Malolo side that won the 2025 Skipper Cup.

The Drua 7s are placed in a challenging Pool E alongside Japan SDS, the British Army, and the Yaro Chiefs. Their first game is against the British Army 7s at 11.40am on Thursday.
