Flash flood warning for most parts of Fiji as rain and strong gusts felt in Suva

A flash flood warning has been issued for most parts of Fiji as rain and winds brought on by a trough of low pressure is felt across the country.

The Fiji Meteorological Service issued a statement a few minutes ago warning people living in Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu North, Ovalau, Kadavu and Southern Vanua Levu to prepare accordingly.

“A trough of low pressure with widespread cloud and rain is currently lying over the southern and eastern parts of Fiji. This system is expected to spread and affect the rest of the country from tomorrow.”

“Flooding of drains and small streams, low water crossings and Irish crossings becoming risky.”

The national weather office has also issued a heavy rain alert the entire Fiji group and have called on the public to remain vigilant and exercises caution when travelling.
