Former Suva soccer rep and rugby union player passes away

A former Suva women’s football rep and Namosi rugby player has passed away after a tragic accident on the weekend.

Vane Lolo Tukania, who was also an officer with the National Fire Authority died after a hit-and-run accident along Ratu Dovi Road in Nadera.

Fiji Football Association President Rajesh Patel said Tukania’s passing was a devastating loss for the Fiji Football family.

“Vane was not only a talented, dedicated footballer but also a remarkable young woman who served her country with pride. Her passion, discipline, and warm spirit touched everyone that knew her.”

Tukania also played rugby union and represented the Namosi Rugby Union in the provincial championships.

Tukania was the daughter of former national and Labasa footballer Tevita Tukania. She will be laid to rest in Labasa on Saturday.
