The South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX) has announced two new award categories to recognise companies leading in environmental, social and governance (ESG) and gender reporting — a first for Fiji’s capital market.
The new categories, Excellence in ESG Coverage and Excellence in Gender Reporting, form part of the upcoming SPX Annual Awards 2025. They aim to highlight organisations showing transparency and leadership in sustainability and gender-related disclosures.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 3 at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel, bringing together representatives from listed companies, large private firms, and state-owned enterprises.
SPX Chief Executive Officer Sheraj Obeyesekere said the initiative reflects growing global attention to sustainable and inclusive corporate practices.
“This is an opportunity to recognise companies that are making an effort to communicate their progress on ESG, as well as gender representation and equality,” he said. “Around the world, [these] disclosures are shaping how investors and stakeholders evaluate companies. For SPX, this marks the start of a journey to encourage greater transparency and forward-looking reporting.”
The new categories are open to both listed and unlisted organisations, with no entry fee. Applications remain open, and tickets for the awards gala are available through the SPX website, www.spx.com.fj
