Police made 42 arrests in the last 24 hours, which include two lockdown breaches where the suspects trekked through Wailoku to get to Delainavesi.

Of the 42, 17 were arrested for breaching curfew and 23 for social gathering violation.

Twelve (12) of the twenty three (23) arrests made include a group that were found drinking homebrew and alcohol in Navua.

“All those arrested will be produced in court today,” Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said.

“We are clamping down on breaches of social gatherings and all information received will be investigated.

“Members of the public have also been sending in photos and videos of people breaching the restrictions for which we are grateful for, as we need to work together to fight this virus.”

The 42 bring to 585 the number of arrests made by police for violation of curfew and social gathering restrictions.
