The Fijiana XV won their first game against Hong Kong China 38 – 3 in the opening round of the WXV3 series currently underway in Dubai.
Captain Karalaini Naisewa congratulated the side’s gutsy effort however she added that they committed errors which they can’t afford to make in their second game against Samoa next week.
‘Id like to thank the girls for putting up a good fight but with that also there were lots of errors and we will have to improve on it next week because Samoa is not an easy team.”
Coach Mosese Rauluni said the Samoan side will bring a physical game and the Fijiana XV will have to work hard to win.
‘That win will give the girls come confidence as we look forward to a tough game againsgt Samoa next week, and we’ll need to have a good set piece against them because of their physicality.”
“We were lazy in the first half, we put alot of pressure on ourselves and we gave away opportunities but managed to pull back in during the second half.”
The Fiji vs Samoa game will kick off at 2am on Sunday 4th of October at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai.
WXV is an annual women’s rugby union competition between national teams. Launched in 2023, the competition consists of three tiers (WXV 1, WXV 2, and WXV 3), each comprising six teams divided into two pools in a split pool format, where teams only face teams from the other pool.
